About the Author
Dr. Pat Gannon-Leary is a consultant and joint partner of Bede Research & Consultancy with Mike McCarthy. Prior to that, Dr Gannon-Leary worked as a researcher at the Universities of Northumbria and Newcastle. Her earlier career experience includes working in academic libraries in the UK and the USA in a variety of roles including Customer Service Manager. During that time she facilitated customer care courses for library staff.

Michael D McCarthy served as a Senior Officer in the Logistics Branch of the RAF, including 3 years as a specialist instructor to Officer Cadets. On leaving the RAF he moved into the management of Customer Support in major Aerospace Companies in the UK and in Sweden. He has wide experience of customer support activity throughout the European aerospace community, covering both major contractors and suppliers. Following early retirement, he has recently spent 2 years working in a support role in a University Library in order to obtain ‘hands-on’ experience of the demands of customer care in this particular environment.

Of special note are the chapters devoted to dealing with challenging situations and team building. Detailed and professional, "Customer Care" is a seminal contribution to academic library 'Library Science' reference collections and very strongly recommended reading for library administrators, policy makers, and staff members.

He also worked as Visiting Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Concordia University (Montreal, Canada), Professor of Electrical Engineering at Purdue University Calumet, and Visiting Professor of Electrical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia). He has been employed as a design and development engineer with Brush Electrical Machines Ltd. (England, UK), as a research engineer with Lucas Group Research Centre (England, UK), and as a lecturer and head of Control Engineering Department at the Higher Institute of Electronics (in Libya and Malta).

Dr. Rashid is actively involved in teaching, researching, and lecturing in electronics, power electronics, and professional ethics. He has published 17 books listed in the US Library of Congress and more than 160 technical papers. His books are adopted as textbooks all over the world. His book Power Electronics has translations in Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Korean, Italian, Chinese, and Persian, and also the Indian economy edition. His book Microelectronics has translations in Spanish in Mexico and in Spain, Italian, and Chinese.

He has received many invitations from foreign governments and agencies to give keynote lectures and consult, from foreign universities to serve as an external examiner for undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. examinations, from funding agencies to review research proposals, and from U.S. and foreign universities to evaluate promotion cases for professorship. Dr. Rashid has worked as a regular employee or consultant in Canada, Korea, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malta, Libya, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Dr. Rashid has traveled to almost all states in USA and to many countries to lecture and present papers (Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Libya, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Brazil, and Mexico).

He is Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET, UK) and Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, USA). He was elected as an IEEE Fellow with the citation “Leadership in power electronics education and contributions to the analysis and design methodologies of solid-state power converters.” Dr. Rashid is the recipient of the 1991 Outstanding Engineer Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He received the 2002 IEEE Educational Activity Award (EAB), Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education with the following citation “for contributions to the design and delivery of continuing education in power electronics and computer-aided simulation.” He is the recipient of the 2008 IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award with the citation: “For his distinguished leadership and dedication to quality undergraduate electrical engineering education, motivating students and publication of outstanding textbooks.”

Dr. Rashid is currently an ABET program evaluator for electrical and computer engineering, and also for (general) engineering program. He is the series editor of Power Electronics and Applications and Nanotechnology and Applications with the CRC Press. He serves as the editorial advisor of Electric Power and Energy with Elsevier Publishing. He lectures and conducts workshops on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and its implementations including assessments. He is a distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Education Society and a regional speaker (previously Distinguished Lecturer) for the IEEE Industrial Applications Society. He has also authored a book The Process of Outcome-Based Education-Implementation, Assessment and Evaluations.

The humor varies from a quiet smile to laughing out loud. What I consider to be great humor is the kind that leaves one thinking about their assumptions, and in this regard this book is great humor. It may be that when we learn to laugh at our inconsistencies and tendencies toward magical thinking, we can dismantle them and approach life in a way that more closely aligns with truth or reality. But buyer beware, Satan is revealed to be a kind of socially engaged liberal while christian icons seem to have a flair for the deceptive. Seth shows us that it is indeed a funny world when observed from the most obvious vantage points.

Funny, clever and just plain good!

I received this book today and finished it today. I found myself laughing more then I should. Mr. Andrews has an amazing way with words. He writes in conversation style. It's like you are listening to a great storyteller. You are! I found myself getting a bit squeamish and embarrassed at some of the stuff I once believed myself (psychics) what amazes me about this whole book is, even thought he is pointing out the absurdity of these beliefs. He does it without disrespect. I know that sounds crazy. Like it says it's a "lighthearted look at belief and tradition around the world".
I give this book 5 stars. I wish I could give it 105 stars!
If you like to laugh. You won't be disappointed.

Death Becomes You, 7. Die in the Sky, 8. The Fortune Tellers, 9. The Penis Parade, 10. Santa’s Little Helper, 11. Rise Up and Walk!, 12. Free Long Necks for the Ladies, 13. Circus of the Stars, 14. 1. A well-written, conversational, brief, witty and entertaining book to read.
2. The fun topic of odd religious beliefs around the world.
3. Great visual format. Loved the cartoon drawings that complement the lighthearted narrative.
4. Andrews makes it perfectly clear that this is a layman tour of odd beliefs and never deviates from it. In short, he makes a promise and keeps it.
5. Andrews engaging and provocative personality shines through the entire book.
6. Interesting facts spruced throughout the book. “…an estimated 125 snake-handling churches take literally the words of Mark 16:18, ‘They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.’”
7. A look at “Papal infallibility” and the three conditions that must be met to be so.
8. A humorous look at Hinduism and an amusing list of animals worshipped around the world.
9. The amusing Batshit Scale applied to Mormon beliefs.
10. One of the oddest chapters, the Church of Euthanasia. “Its slogan: ‘Save the Planet, Kill Yourself.’”
11. A fascinating look at fortune tellers. In reference to Sylvia Browne, “Out of the 115 recorded predictions analyzed by S.I., her success rate came in at...zero.”
12. Some chapters are laugh out loud funny, check out the festival called, “Kanamara Matsuri”.
13. The true story behind Saint Nick and the Krampus poem.
14. A look at the scoundrel that is Peter Popoff. “It seems that Popoff was receiving cues from his bride via a tiny earpiece receiver he’d passed off as a “hearing aid” (why the hell would a faith healer need a hearing aid?), and when Randi went public with the information, Peter Popoff spiraled from protest to admission to humiliation to bankruptcy within the course of a year.”
15. Amusing look at body modifiers. “Also in the modify-by-disk department, the Kayan women of Burma have a thing about the neck.”
16. Scientology’s E-Meter. “In fact, according to ex-Scientologist Marc Headley, author of the book “Blown for Good: Behind the Iron Curtain of Scientology,” the nifty Mark VIII Super Quantum E-Meter will set you back a cool $5,000.”
17. Dudes, there’s a chapter on Jediism and Dudeism.

Negatives:
1. Some amusing stones left unturned, as an example Jainism and some of their extreme practices such as not harming bugs.
2. Also, I would have added a chapter on religious practices with drugs.
3. Drawings aside, this book I suspect would be much better as an audio book.
4. Fun while it lasted but too brief.
5. Not all major religions covered.
6. Some missed opportunities came to mind that would have added value: a table illustrating animals worshipped (narrative there but better captured visually via a table).
7. No formal bibliography.

In summary, this is the perfect book to read on the beach. It’s fun, entertaining and provocative. The high-quality drawings complement the humorous tone. Andrews gives the audience exactly what he promised a light-hearted tour of odd religious beliefs around the world and in that regard he doesn’t disappoint. There were some stones left unturned but overall the book entertains and raises some eyebrows too. I recommend it!

Tools are everything

Bought this for my son who was struggling with his anatomy class in college. He is not pre-med, this was for his Exercise Physiology and Nursing double major. It turns out this book is so much more clear, detailed and useful than his assigned anatomy textbook, and it has helped him immensely. Now he's doing fine. Tools are everything.

Great book with lots of specific part labeling and detail

I bought this book for my girlfriend cause she needed it for school. We had originally went to Barnes and noble and bought one for 80$ and the book did not even contain the material that this one has. Overall My girlfriend returned the other book and kept this one. She is still using it til this day.

good Atlas for Anatomy

It's a good book! I was able to find many of the terms for class but I wish it had more because there were a few times where i had to google image something. Other atlas' have real images instead of drawings which i do enjoy especially if working with a cadaver in your Anatomy lab. Other than that it's a decent book with good info for such a cheap price. I look forward to using it some more!

About the Author
Nicolas Camille Flammarion (1842 – 1925) was a French astronomer and author. He was a prolific author of more than fifty titles. In a presidential address to the Society for Psychical Research in October 1923 Flammarion summarized his views after 60 years into investigating paranormal phenomena. He wrote that he believed in telepathy, etheric doubles, the stone tape theory and "exceptionally and rarely the dead do manifest" in hauntings. He was also a member of the Theosophical Society.

This book represents a very good introduction to what is a fascinating branch of mathematics. The topics included represent all the "big" areas in graph theory. The discourse is just enough to whet the appetite for more advanced study, while remaining very accessible.

Deo's Graph Theory with applications is Super

Yes, this book exceeds my expectations. I'm finally back in the STEM swing and love the way Deo makes Diestal a lot easier or at least more concrete. Deistal , as you know is the German "go to guy" for hard hitting raw graph theory. Whereas Erdos is a global favorite. See also Proofs from THE BOOK 4th edition by Aigner and Ziegler. Wild open graphs are a favorite of mine, otherwise known as complex graphs. However letting your imagination run wild is important to seeing any asymmetrical graph in the REAL world, like stupid road maps that leave out critical details and get you lost or delayed or injured and left for dead. Google maps could use a few lessons from the above. Anyhow, Narsingh Deo's book is well worth the work thru, don't just skim it, or read it like a mystery novel: Interact with it!

Clear, a pleasure to read for a beginner

The writing is excellent. I got an introduction to graph theory from Mark Allen Weiss' "Data structures and algorithm analysis in C++". That was a very good start and led me to think I could use graph theory to solve a problem. When I needed to probe deeper I found this book in Weiss' bibliography. I read the first few chapters and felt comfortable enough to go out on the internet and find a PhD thesis that applied directly to my problem.

This book takes cyber-security off the 'too difficult' pile by making it understandable.

I love this book. Whether you know nothing or know a lot about the subject, the book sets out everything anybody needs to know about cyber-security in lay terms. Key issues and the jargon are all explained. The case studies reveal how easy it can be to be caught out regardless of who you are and what field you work in, complemented by the necessary steps individuals and firms can take to improve our individual and collective protection.
This book should be mandatory reading for all boards, partnerships and regulators. Individual owners of any intelligent device should read it - and that means all of us as the internet of things (yes, this is explained in the book) is already here. IT technical experts should read it, too, as it will help them explain risks and security in terms non-experts will understand and help conversations with decision-makers.

A 'must read' book. I recommend it as a very useful primer and reference text for everyone interested in (or affected by) today's cyber-conscious world and its numerous cyber threats to all IT users - and this surely means most of us! Written in a clear, easy-to-understand, non-technical style, with useful case studies and a very useful 'Cybersecurity to English Dictionary'. This book claims to be "A guide to the essentials of cybersecurity, cyber-terrorism and hacktivism. How can you guard against them? How do you make cybersecurity work?". I feel it meets these claims, and more. Try it for yourself, as soon as you can!

This seems to be a good high level overview of all the different issues to be considered as you begin to think about the problem of cyber security.
