Its OK

I was not thrilled with this story, Its well written in many ways but I was not happy with the female nor the male Character. No Spoilers but she is a push over that if her chosen career is supposed to be true it does not fit. He comes across as a dick and a douche. I read this all the way through and have read biker stories in the past and this one falls flat in my opinion.

A well-written, clean romance that concludes well but, is a camouflaged cliffhanger-style story.

I rated this a 4-star because I enjoyed the tone and flow of the story, liked the characters and, I very much appreciated that there were no graphic descriptions of violence or sex nor vulgar language (especially for a MC story).
The reason that I didn't rate this a 5-star is because, while this story has a conclusive ending, it's actually a continuing story (or, camouflaged cliffhanger). Which means, I may never discover how things play out on the path to the happily-ever-after because I don't chase after unfinished tales.
Because I did enjoy the story, I'd recommend it.

Really great story.

Two friends, that are also neighbors , come back from war and go to the police academy. One drops out two weeks before finals and graduation. The other graduates and joins the police task force. Two years later one is an Iron Tornadoes M C member and the other us dead.
The story has just the right amount of mystery suspense and love to keep you interested..

A good primer on understanding ISIS

This is a good introduction to the leader of ISIS. It is written in conversational English. It will take you very little time to read. When you are finished you will have a grasp of who Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi is and how ISIS came to be. You will know the difference between Al qeada and ISIS and why it matters.

This is not a scholarly work. If you want a deep understanding of Islam or terrorism, this book will leave you hungry. There are better works to read on the subject. None, however, can educate as clearly and concisely as this one.

Simple, effective, interesting.

For my background: English is my first language and Spanish my second. I learned Spanish during the year and a half that I worked as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in the Dom. Rep. I've only ever spoken Spanish to my three young girls (ages 5, 3, 18 months). So, their first language is Spanish, although they understand and speak English also. I've been using Coquito to teach my 5 year old to read in Spanish before she starts Kindergarten. She is grasping the concepts quickly and well. The Coquito book is well-designed in that it introduces sounds in a way that builds upon each concept learned. The book also incorporates former sounds which serves as repetition and review. We are halfway through the book and I have no doubt that my daughter will know how to read on a basic level by the time that we are through the book. I try to do one page a day and not push or overwhelm. So far, so good!

I learned to read With this book long time ago.. The book has changed a lot. I like the changes ! It's bigger and pages are thicker.
Was a surprise to find this book here.. I'm teaching my 2 year old daughter to read and nothing better than this book.
She loves to look at the pictures and we read it every night!

Great book - even for adults

I am learning Spanish and this book was recommended to me by my teacher. While it is a children's book, it makes learning the language easy. It is very colorful and accessible.

Blueprint on How to be Charming!!!

Let me first say I am NOT a paid reviewer (see my other reviews) I am hoping you will read this and understand how grateful I am to Patrick King. This book is a short read compared to other books, but each topic is to the point. People will read this statement as if I am saying there is not a lot of info in it, NO! This book cuts out what the other books does not. Other books wants to use fillers of pointless information, as if they want you to believe what they are saying.Patrick information is so valuable, I watch myself nodding constantly, cause what he said made sense.
This book is like a blueprint on how to live a charming/charismatic life. You will be mesmerized on how Patrick lays out the information in a way that you can implement this blueprint in your life everyday. This will be my go to book!

Wow, this book really shattered some limiting beliefs!

Wow, this book really shattered some limiting beliefs! One stand out for me was the way "presence" was defined and how it can be increased. The author has a very direct way of explaining exactly how to become more charismatic, and I like the way the author illustrated the techniques with real people such as Bill Clinton. Extra points for the "cheat sheet" attached to the end of the book.!

It's funny, I had the same experience as the author when I met Bill Clinton. When I met him, it was only a couple of years ago so he wasn't the president anymore and was a bit older, but he possessed the same kind of "je ne sais quos" that I just couldn't put my finger on. It's helped me understand what was happening in the background, those small subtle things that made him such a presence in the room. Plus a lot of other stuff about being charismatic that had never really occurred to me but seems to hold true with every magnetic person I know. The author seems to have nailed what makes someone charismatic, and breaks it into small steps. Thanks.

This is a great book.

I was privileged to be given an advance copy of Nancy Huston's new book, The Mark of the Angel. I started reading it over supper one evening this summer after arriving home from work late, and didn't put it down -- *couldn't* put it down -- until after midnight when I finished it in tears. I was totally caught up in the lives of these people, totally engrossed in their interwoven, tragic lives and the larger context in which they lived.
It took my breath away. It is a beautifully written book, very poetic, profoundly moving, and such an important novel for the end of this century. I haven't read such a powerful novel since Poisonwood Bible, which I also read in galley a year earlier. (And I read (and listen to) a *lot* of books.) Like Poisonwood, it is at once a detailed study of the intimate lives of people you come to care about very much, and also a profound statement about power and imperialism. It offers spiritual and political lessons as well as its poetry.
I hope this isn't a spoiler... but when I finished the book, aside from wiping away my tears, the only other thing I could think to do that seemed appropriate was to give my (teen-ager) son a long, warm hug.
I hope that many, many, many people will discover this gem of a book and love it as much as I did.

Beautiful!

What beautiful and unique writing! Nancy Huston is a great French-Canadian writer whose work I will be looking forward to reading in the future. The Mark of the Angel is a stunning novel set in Paris during the 1950's. The historic feel of the novel -- after World War 2, during the Algerian war -- is extremely accurate! The story of a daughter of a Nazi having an affair with a Jewish Communist is thought provoking and intense. There are various political views illustrated in this novel.
Huston's writing style makes this beautiful work of art seem like silk. The narrative style is very unique. A tale of adultery, this novel sort of reminds me of The Scarlet Letter, but with strong political views and great historical feel. I highly recommend this book!

Memorable and very well written

The structure and style of this novel are engaging and effective. The interjections of the narrator force the reader to focus not only on Saffie's story, but to pull back from this narrow focus and absorb the author's bigger message. Her message is a grim one - that history teaches us little, and that human beings will continue to abuse and murder one another with the belief that their cause is right and justifiable. I think the reader could have understood the message with a little less input from the narrator whose voice was, at times, intrusive and tended to state the obvious. This is a novel that delivers a disturbing assessment of mankind, but it is beautifully written and gives the reader much food for thought. I will forever think of the philtrum (that funny little dent between your nose and your upper lip) as "the mark of the angel" now, and remember Ms. Huston's powerful book and message as I do.

Fascinating

David Farer lived in a well known brothel in Amsterdam on and off over a period of several years. During some of that time he was assistant manager of the brothel. But his major interest was conducting interviews with the women who worked there. This book is the result. On page 24 he quotes the first woman he describes as saying, "You must make us look like people who happen to be prostitutes. That's what we are." Farer succeeded in fulfilling this request. That is what makes this book so interesting. His presentation of the women, their backgrounds, current lives, activities in the brothel and their attitude towards their work and their customers is both objective and empathetic. He also introduces us to a wide range of customers and their interactions with the prostitutes, a few of which are remarkably affectionate and reciprocal.
